Dom Perignon Bjork & Chris Cunningham Blanc 2006

Art, wine and music have long been associated due to their subjective rewards. However, wine apart from its colour has no visual expression, the medium for enjoyment are its sensory flavours. In comparison, art is visual and music auditory. Dom Perignon have, over the last five years, embarked on an admirable and exciting project, which strives to extend the visual aspect of wine, partnering with world famous artists to represent their great cuvee: Karl Lagerfeld, David Lynch, Andy Warhol (studio) and Iris Van Herpen have all successfully collaborated with Dom Perignon to create limited edition designs.

This year Dom Perignon have joined forces with the world renowned Icelandic singer Bjork and her longtime video collaborator Chis Cunnigham to create a limited edition bottle and coffret for the truly exceptional 2006 Blanc vintage and the 2004 Rose vintage. Bjork and Cunningham have named their Dom Pérignon creation ‘From Earth to Heart’ and their design represents a laser-like ray of green light which shines down on the bottle, piercing the glass. The shield on the bottle thereon reflects the laser-light as it infuses into the wine.

Dom Perignon’s collaborative bottles rise in price after release, due to their limited production and strong global demand. This years’ release is made more compelling due to the exceptional quality of the 2006 Blanc, the highest scoring Dom Perignon in decades, having been awarded 97 points from Antonio Galloni and Richard Juhlin, making it a unique opportunity whether for investment or future consumption. It is a wine that collectors should have in their cellars. Dom Perignon’s Chef de Cave Richard Geoffroy, described the 2006 as having “generous aromatic ripeness”, adding: “It’s juicy and opulent, and sings of the uncharacteristically hot and sunny July and September months that year.” In addition the 2004 Rose has also received universal critical acclaim awarded 96 points by Antonio Galloni and Richard Juhlin, making it one of the finest Roses in Dom Perignon’s history.
